Third Best Bar None Award for Corbie Inn & it’s Gold!
Sunday 26 October saw the 2014 BEST BAR NONE Awards held this year in Behind the Wall in Falkirk.
For the third year running the Corbie Inn was up for an award and having received Silver in their first two years of operation had high hopes!
And, this year these were realised!
Gail, owner and licensee of the Corbie Inn, was honoured to receive her framed Certificate and Gold Award Plaque in recognition of achieving the required level of accreditation in the annual scheme to improve licensed premises throughout Scotland.
Best Bar None works to reduce crime, reward excellence and raise the standards of alcohol licensed premises.
Real Radio’s Ewan Cameron presented the awards, and Brian Gibson, from the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, gave a talk on the standard of the businesses taking part and how many of the businesses excelled this year, and the outstanding customer service and continued development goes to the Corbie Inn.
A spokesperson for BBN scheme said, “Congratulations to all the pubs, restaurants and nightclubs that picked up a Best Bar None Award last night at Behind the wall. Lots of gold awards for the town! Well done to everyone for their hard work over the last year”.
The Best Bar None Awards Scheme is sponsored by Diageo, Molson Coors and HEINEKEN together with the Scottish Government and is an integral part of the Safer Areas Initiatives within Scotland and works together with licensed premises to create a safer and more welcoming city and town centre environments.
It rewards safe and well-managed licensed venues with the issue of a display plaque which can be used to promote the venue.
The scheme focuses on safety and customer care and gives each licensed venue the opportunity to prove it meets a standard of operation set in consultation with the government and alcohol industry at a national level.
Standards need to be achieved to get accredited
The award scheme is not simply a rubber-stamping exercise but a 4-stage process with required criteria needing to be achieve before accreditation is given:
- The Application
- All licensed venues are invited to apply for an application and best practice booklet.
- The Inspection (covering)
- Prevention of Crime & Disorder
- Protection of Public Safety
- Protection of the Environment
- Promotion of Public Health
- Protection of Children from Harm
- Each application is inspected and points allocated for “Essential”, “Desired” and “Bonus” categories with all essential points being required to receive an ‘accredited’ award.
- Additional points are given for achieving higher standards.
Again this year we are all proud to have been recognised again in 2014 and the plaque and certificate will be getting pride of place in the pub as previous year’s awards have been!
