Wow, we did it!
Heart of the Community Annual Award Winner 2015
Last night at the 5th Best Bar None Annual Awards Ceremony the Corbie Inn won the Heart of the Community category for 2015.
The ceremony took place on Thursday 26 March 2015 at the BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.
Best Bar None is a partnership initiative which aims to create and promote a vibrant day and night-time economy in Scotland.
All Finalists have accredited pubs, bars, hotel bars, nightclubs and other special entertainment venues which provide high-quality standards of safety for their customers and staff.
After receiving a third and Best Bar None Gold plaque, in the local BBN awards for 2014, being proposed for the national Heart of the Community category, was thought the icing on the cake.
But, coming first in the awards is a great honour and there’s not enough icing or cake big enough to express the way we feel.
And, it came as a total surprise!
It was a really good night; the food was good and the presentations equally entertaining.
As the last category, our table thought we knew who the winners were going to be! And, it wasn’t us!
There are five in every category and the Heart of the Community finalists was:-
- Hamishes’ Hoose – Renfrewshire
- Laings – Dundee
- The Corbie Inn – Falkirk
- The Imperial Bar – Airdrie & Coatbridge
- The Starbank Inn – Edinburgh
All finalists received an individual award as just getting there is recognition of the level of commitment each has made.
Gail Fairholm, owner and licensee of Corbie Inn said, “Of the five finalists I had a feeling that Laings in Dundee were the winners and we were out of the running. When announced it took us all by surprise”!
And, it appears there might be more to come! Category winners now go forward to the National UK Awards.
