Hippodrome Cinema Bo’ness–Eating out between performances

The Hippodrome Cinema Silent Film Festival 2012

Hippodrome Silent Film FestivalCelebrating 100 years in 2012

The Hippodrome is Scotland's oldest purpose-built picture house and a fine example of pre-art deco cinema architecture.

The now A-listed building was the brainchild of film-maker Louis Dickson. It was designed by local architect Matthew Steele and opened on 11 March 1912.

97 years after the first customers took their seats in the grand picture palace, The Hippodrome re-opened its doors to the public in April 2009 to recreate the golden age of cinema-going using 21st century technology. And, what a success it has proved to be!

Silent Film Festival back to celebrate in 2012

Friday 16 to 18 March 2012

The first Hippodrome Silent Film Festival held in March 2011 was a great success. More than 1500 people attending over the three days contributing to five sell-out events.

The 2012 festival is going to be a very special weekend with live musical accompaniment and special events for all the family, as part of the 100th birthday celebrations for Scotland's first cinema. And, of course, to its continued success!

Corbie Inn CorbiehallWhere to eat between performances!

The Corbie Inn at Corbiehall is only a short distance, about a 10 minute walk, from the Hippodrome Cinema, and open all day from 12 noon (12.30 on Sunday) with good food and pub grub with a Daily Menu served all day until 9pm.

Family and child friendly atmosphere

The Corbie Inn prides itself in being fully child-friendly and offers both a children’s menu and the option for 1/2 portion main course meals if that's what they prefer.

There are also games, crayons and drawing sheets to help keep them occupied while you relax between film performances.

Not forgetting, of course, some vegetarian food options and the 6 real ales, mainly from local Scottish breweries also available on the bar!

Just like the Hippodrome, the Corbie Inn only re-opened after extensive refurbishment but have already gained an excellent reputation. See what some customers have said on Trip Advisor! We'd be delighted to hear your opinion too!
